We had a lovely anniversary dinner here on a Saturday night. We called early and asked for a window table which the manager said he would do his best to get for us and he did. My husband got the spinach salad and I got the beet salad and they were both delicious. He got the seafood Riviera and it was fabulous. My veal Leonardo was good too. Dessert was a gooey chocolate cake with ice cream which was to die for. They were out of all the bottle Sauvignon blanc wines so we had the house one and loved it. That was lucky and cost less too. Our service was great by Larry and Steve who were there when needed but never pushy. We stayed 2 1/2 hours so we could see the sunset and enjoy our evening. We shall return.

We went to Pietros on the River on Saturday night, late October 2013. There are two -- Pietros on the River and Pietros on the Ocean & located close together -- it's confusing. We visited for the sunset dinner special. It was a pleasant environment but I noticed the tableware was a bit dusty amplified by the evening's sunset. We had two servers that were particularly attentive, except my companion had to ask twice to have his water glass refilled. The rolls and butter were very satisfying -- a variety served including crusty and I think it was rye. I ordered coffee & the server said it was good. At around $2.50 it should be. Salad was mixed greens & vinaigrette -- stingy on the dressing. It was okay but a little dry and nondescript -- could have used some tomatoes or vegies or something. The very tall manager delivered our entrees, priding himself on carrying the super hot plates without any protection except for his calloused hands. Nevertheless, he sort of jerked my coffee cup -- spoon jangled -- out of the way to make room for the hot plates before I knew that he was carrying the plates barehanded. My companion ordered the chicken with capers in a cream sauce. It was tasty and tender; I might order it again. I ordered the prime rib. It was fatty and tough in places; heavily crusted with flavorless herbs. I had a half dozen good bites; the rest went home to my doggie Killer (I've heard a lot of diners take home their food to their dogs.) Mashed potatoes were okay and the accompany vegies were too undercooked to eat without cutting with a steak knife. Dessert was a chocolate mousse that tasted more like bland pudding than mousse. I could not detect any of the richness that a dozen egg yolks add to real mousse. We did not eat it all -- you know when you cannot finish a chocolate dessert that it's not great. $62 later we mused that for that amount we could buy the best steaks at Publix or The Fresh Market & I could make my yummy organic mashed potatoes with real butter and cream. Pietros on the River is offering Thanksgiving Dinner; $38.95 per person plus tax & gratuity; and Christmas dinner $43.95. We might give them another chance.

Went there last night for a New Year's Eve dinner and was really disappointed. I gave it one star - and that was for the lobster bisque soup, which was very good. When we sat down, there was butter on the table and after drinks order was placed, I had to ask for the bread to go along with it. For my drink order, I asked for the J. Lohr cab, not the house wine, and I believe both my boyfriend and I got the house wine. My entree was crab cakes and I believe they must've been made weeks ago - I never had worse crab cakes EVER. Dry, tasteless and just all-around bad. My water glass sat empty for the longest time and I asked for a refill, which I never got, so i drank my BF's. We had an 8:30 reservation and there were about 6 empty tables in our section, so I don't know what the problem was. The steak my BF had was not good either - he ate about half and didn't finish. We didn't have dessert so I can't comment on that. Overall, it was a huge disappointment because I had been looking forward to going there for a very long time. It's especially disappointing because it was New Year's Eve and our final meal for 2014 went out like a puff.

Older style menu and I am not saying that's a bad thing. Just some let's say "standards" considerate of the main clientele. They are expertly executed. I had the Snapper Monte Carlo with a Ceasar salad. Everything was great. A really nice view especially at sunset on a clear day. Nice wine list and fantastic service.

Am I on a different planet? Was so looking forward to dining at pietros. What a disappointment. Upon entering restaurant, thought it was a bit dated and more of a senior crowd than expected. Dining manager was excellent in welcome and speed of meeting reservation seating. Not so wild with our table outside restrooms but guess someone has to sit there. Wait person Donna was fairly receptive and offered drinks right off the bat. Went over minimal specials and was timely in getting drink order. Wine list was perfectly sufficient. Had not ask for bread since we were starving after golf. Menu I reviewed online was exact replica of what was offered tonite. Minimal specials. Beet salad was tasty and well prepared; wedge salad was just that; and calamari was okay. I chose to wait for entree. Chicken cordon bleu was pretty good, potatoes were gluey and broccoli and carrots totally unimaginative. Chicken Marsala satisfied that diner but looked gloppy. Rigatoni with sausage had nice taste but talk about a la dente. It was crunchy! My meal was not put in accurately and instead of veal saltimbocca came chicken Marsala. Once that was reported the staff kicked into high gear. Maitre d was right on it, came over apologized, brought drinks for table, and worked on getting meal as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this was the worst saltimbocca I have ever been served. Tender enough veal loaded with tons of sage and cheese was Inedible. No sauce masquerading dish. Donna noticed and returned dish to kitchen. Maitre d returned apologizing and removed dish from bill. Espresso was excellent according to hubby but key lime pie ordered as the only dessert was kind of lime cheesecake and unremarkable. Would not return but have to commend dining room manager and wait staff for their responsive behavior. Nice view but acoustics are not conducive to quiet conversations. And food totally unimaginative. Too bad.

We live down the street from Pietros and it is one of our favorite places to take our guests for a nice, quiet, relaxing dinner with a beautiful sunset view of the Indian River. Food is always delicious and service is great.

We almost missed Pietros on the River as it's hidden away on Hutchison Island. The restaurant is located at the Island Dune Country Club which is unmarked from the road. We tried lunch here on a weekday and were the earliest patrons. As a result, we had excellent service! I had the Island Salad with Grilled Chicken, Gorgonzola Cheese, Granny Smith Apples, Roasted Pumpkin Seeds Served with Key Lime Vinaigrette . This was excellent and I'd definitely go back Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 There's free parking and there's ever a really small golf shop in this older ClubHouse. Very reasonable pricing.

We specifically went to Pietros tonight for the Sunset Special, mainly for the view since we heard it's beautiful, even though the food's not great. The food was ok (Sunset Special choices not good) and to our disbelief they pulled down all the shades in the restaurant 10 minutes after we sat down. The sun was barely shining in there. You couldn't see outside at all and we may as well have been at a church basement for potluck. We ate our meal and around dessert time I spoke to the manager (tall man) and nicely told him how disappointed that we were about the view. He was weird and defensive. So unprofessional. I wouldn't return. Go to the other Pietros. It's a lot better in many ways.

Called for reservations, and was told there was a small wedding "upstairs". She failed to mention it was only 2 stair. It was also prom night. LOUD all the way around. We really couldn't hold a conversation, for the din. Last year we had a wonderful meal, this year all the meals were very disappointing. Two in the party had duck, dry! I had the special, prime rib medium rare, almost too tough to cut and a real challenge to chew. The last dinner was pork chop, medium, which was dry. What has happened here, really sorry, it was our go to special place. Don't think we will return.

Decor: 4/5 -plentiful parking -the view is amazing, there is a pool and gazebo in the back -interior is spacious and perfect for a wedding to accomodate around 150 people Service: 4/5 -super friendly servers Food: 4/5 -The mashed potatoes was probably the best part of our meal followed by a close second for the beef prime rib. There was also chicken and mahi mahi but those were meh.

Great spot for fine dining or dine at the bar. Great sunsets. Service is sometimes hit or miss. The owner is always there to greet you with a smile. My wife got the prime rib special blackened. It came out way over cooked. We were with another couple so my wife didn't want to make a seen. She could only eat a few bites of the leather. The eggplant stack app was awesome. Lamb chops were very good. Beet salad was tasty. I'd go back.

Wonderful restaurant, in a gorgeous setting in the water. Service was great. Food showed wonderful attention to detail. I had the duck, it was suburb. My husband had the tile fish in lemon sauce with shrimp garnish, wonderful. This is my first time giving 5 stars but they earned every one!

I live in Austin ,Texas but visit Jensen Beach many times a year. Probably have eaten 10 times at Pietro's. If you want a special evening away from the madding crowds this is the place. Go a half hour before sunset, order a drink and appetizer and take it outside to more enjoy the beautiful scenery with the sunset .My meals have always been superb but I am fanatical about lamb chops and Pietro's has the best I've ever had. I am not a meat and potatoes guy and Pietro's has enough variation to satisfy any person that really enjoys food. From the greeting by the owner to the finish I have never been unhappy. There is no reason to leave unhappy if you just ask the server for what you want. I rate it ***** five stars.I'll alwayd go back unless someone maliciously screws up. Joe ,Austin Texas

The food at Pietros was excellent. I started with a house salad, which was good, but my wife had a beet salad, which she said was superb. For our main courses, we had grouper and crab cakes, respectively, which we also enjoyed. Our friends had duck and a very thick pork chop, both of which they said they thoroughly enjoyed. The ambiance of the restaurant was very elegant, as was the service. The view out the window was beautiful and almost tropical in its setting. I recommend this restaurant very highly for both the quality of its food, excellent service and elegant ambiance. However, the restaurant is probably not typical of Florida in that, while the seafood dishes were excellent, the waiter recommended the poultry, pork and steak dishes.
